What Rolfing means to me.
I first heard about Rolfing from, a Yoga teacher I met, he couldn’t tell me very much about it, but it was now on my radar. A little later I met a guy who had had the 10 sessions, he was very encouraging but couldn’t really answer my questions, I became more & more curious. I began to read anything I could get my hands on & decided to get the sessions.
The sessions were very powerful for me. I found a real joy in my walk; I stopped trudging & walked as if the sun was shining everyday. This sunshine penetrated many aspects of me & my life leaving me brighter. One day about half way though my 10 sessions I remember watching people at York train station everyone seamed weighed down by gravity. I felt that in Rolfing I had discovered an amazing magical secret it was then that I realised I had to train as a Rolfer & share the secret.
I relish the freedom that Rolfing has brought to my body, I find my body willing & able to do physical stuff. I enjoy the physicality of my body in a way I didn’t before, cycling, climbing, dancing & running are activites that bring me much joy now. Although never a fan of ball games I find I understand better that illusive thing “timing”.
Now that I’m working as a Rolfer, I still hold my original curiosity, the more I learn the more there is to discover. I love the time I get to spend with people, witnessing & supporting the powerful changes people make.
